Why Do Dental Implants Fail?

Dental implants can fail for a variety of reasons. These can include poor placement of the implant, a lack of proper care, infection of the implant site, or a lack of adequate bone support for the implant. Other causes include smoking, poor oral hygiene, excessive trauma to the implant area, diseases, and medications. Implants can also fail if the patient does not follow the prescribed postoperative instructions, such as avoiding hard or sticky foods and maintaining good oral hygiene. Additionally, the body may reject the implant due to an allergic reaction or the body not accepting the material of the implant. Finally, implants can fail if the implant is not the correct size or shape for the area.

How Does Dental Implant Salvage Work?

Dental implant salvage work is a process that is used to restore a patient‘s tooth or teeth to its original state. This process is used when a patient has had a dental implant that has failed or been damaged in some way. The goal of dental implant salvage work is to replace the damaged implant with a new one, preserving the natural look and function of the tooth. To do this, the dentist will remove the failed implant, clean the site, and then place a new implant in the same location. The new implant is typically made from titanium and is designed to mimic the natural tooth structure. Once the new implant is in place, the dentist will finish the process by attaching a crown or bridge to the implant. The end result is a restored tooth that looks and functions just like a natural tooth.
